Our New Comment System

12 Feb

We’re proud to announce the addition of a new comment system we’ve put in place for you when you’re searching for files and you’re not logged in as a registered user. What this system does is when you find a file that you want to download, you’re able to comment on the file or review other users suggestions before you download the file. This will allow us all to interact in much more efficiently.

Take a look at this example:

Using ShareDen Part 1

2 Feb

Greetings! This is part 1 of a series on How To Guide’s that will contain various posts outlining how-to use our free service. Hopefully with these guides we’ll be able to address most if not all of your concerns regarding the use of our service. First, we’ll start with our goal: “ShareDen aims to facilitate and systematize the process of having to upload and download important files for designers, developers, creatives, and anyone else. We can host all of your coding files, full applications, Photoshop files, images, audio, movie clips and more.

Essentially we aim to make it easier for you to upload and download your files. However, since this is a service that’s still in beta, we ask that if you find a few bugs and issues to please report them. You can send us an email or use our contact form.

Uploading

With ShareDen you don’t need to login to upload files. All you have to do is click on the browse button, select the file(s) you want to upload and hit the upload button. You can also upload files directly from a URL. The benefit of logging in would be that when you’re uploading the files and you are logged in, your files are automatically allocated to your profile and you’re able to come back at a later time and select them to create folders, delete, create image galleries and more.

If you’re not logged in, the files will simply become hosted on our servers. You can access them later by saving the link(s) that were provided to you or by performing a search.

Downloading

Downloading is very simple. When you upload a file there are links provided to you for accessing at a later time. If you’re logged in you don’t have to worry about this since the files will be placed in your account. All you have to do is follow the link and you will be directed to a page where your download sits. There you’re able to view a variety of useful information such as the size, how many times it’s been downloaded and more.

If you’re logged in, then you won’t be directed to this page, instead,  your download will begin immediately.

Registering

Registering is beneficial if you want to create folders or image galleries with your files. Other than that, you’re not obligated to register in order to use our service. All we require is a valid email address, your chosen username, password (secure & safe) and that’s pretty much it. It’s a pretty straightforward process. As soon as your registration is complete, you will receive a welcome email to the email address you specified. This email will contain details such as username and email, along with our contact information.

Logging-In

Logging in to your ShareDen account won’t take long, all  information required is your username and password. If you’ve forgotten your password please contact us and we will send it to you (provided you’ve sent us valid information from the email address you registered with). If you have any trouble whats-so-ever logging in, let us know and we’ll get to work on it.

This completes the first part of our How-To Series. Part 2 should  be available soon.
